Freebie Friday: Interview with Christopher Stout

Freebie square 8-18

It’s Freebie Friday!

Before we get into the Freebie for this week, we want to remind you again that the deadline to apply for this year’s Exposure Miami is August 20th, that’s this Sunday! If you have been waiting for an opportunity to take your art career to the next level, this might be the time for you! Make sure you check out the website for more information and to apply.

Now, on to the freebie. A while back we were graced with the presence of Christopher Stout, an artist and think tank operator based in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. We talked solo shows and how that worked for him, both in New York and in California. In this interview, we touch on finding where you belong, taking on big projects, the art of being fearless. Christopher offers numerous insights on seeking out important connections, as well as being – and staying – successful.

Here’s where you can find out more about him:

If you find this helpful or interesting, we have more interviews and other content on, where you can enroll in our online course, Artist Resources and Tools, or better known as ART School. Or, if you are specifically interested in learning about creating your best portfolio and application, we made a short program called Great Applications. Check it out!

What’s happening at Starry Night?

We are so glad you asked! The summer session at the Starry Night Residency is in full swing. If you would like to find out more about the program or apply, visit here.

And, in case you forgot already, applications for Exposure Miami 2017 are due by August 20th. Make sure you get yours in if you are interested in showing your work at an international art fair. To learn more about the program and apply, check out the website here.

Have you filled out our housing survey yet?

We are conducting some research about housing, and would love your feedback!

Many real estate owners and developers think working people (and specifically artists) want to rent forever. Can this be true? Here is a survey to help us better understand the needs of working people, and artists specifically, in regards to their housing. Please fill this out and re-post where you can. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us.
